Smarter TV

I thought I owned a smart tv... until I set up the LG 65” NanoCell. First impression, how easy everything was from getting it out of the box, the top of the box slides right off. The tv is heavy, make sure you have someone to help lift it.
I decided to put this on the tv mount I already have, and needed to buy new screws to install it. The instructions tell you the width, but not the length you need. If it had been my husband, he would have known, but I just grabbed all the lengths, the 1” length was perfect.
There are 4 HDMI ports, so plenty of room for the TiVo box, Nintendo, Apple TV, and PlayStation! There are even USB ports.
So I plugged the tv in, set up was super simple. And it easily connected to my home WiFi network. I figured I’d set my TiVo remote up to control the tv the way I like, such a waste of time! The magic remote that came with the tv is just that.... magic! With no setup on my part at all, the magic tv remote automatically can change the channel, view the guide and even go to my recorded shows. I no longer need the TiVo remote. Okay, just signed into my YouTube app on the tv, all I had to do was open the app in my phone and BAM! Logged into my YouTube account in the tv!!! Seriously, can this tv get any simpler???
One great feature I noticed right away was the movie button on the remote. It is pretty cool and shows you where to buy or rent tons of movies without searching tons of streaming services yourself. The only downside is that it does not show movies available on paid subscriber streaming services like Netflix, Disney+, etc.
The tv comes preinstalled with Netflix, Amazon Prime and some other apps. I was able to download Disney+ and plan to see what else I can use. This makes it easier for my younger kids to watch their favorites all with our tv remote. They can even speak what they want to see right into the remote.
So far, one downside I have found, when you change a picture setting for example, true motion, you need to apply this to all of the picture modes. This is something that drives my husband insane, he hates the way it looks... it’s funny, I hardly notice and my 5 year old says “it looks like a video game”. So we have to turn it off on every mode, it would be useful for this to be a universal setting. This also has to be reset if you unplug the tv. There are also so many settings.... so many, and finding the ones we are looking for can be annoying.
Last night the family and I watched the 1950s era Peter Pan cartoon movie, it looked amazing! I couldn’t believe how clear the pictures were and things seemed to almost jump off of the screen. Another thing that looks fantastic are video games! Even my son said Mario looks almost real.
I have to say, my husband had been saying he wanted a larger tv for years, but we have a small place, I thought it would be ridiculous. We went from a 55” to a 65”. There is a small difference in the size that it takes up on the wall, the great thing is the frame on this tv is so thin that I hardly notice the overall size difference and hubby is happy to get a bigger screen.
I have had the tv a few weeks now and only just realized we haven’t plugged our Apple Tv in, we don’t need it! There’s an app, all my movies are there, I can watch Apple Tv+ and have one more open HDMI port.
Overall thoughts. Great tv, amazing color and everything looks so realistic. Love the magic remote, this tv is easy to use right out of the box no matter how you watch tv. The number of settings is a bit overwhelming, but something that will be gotten used to over time. Will be enjoyed by all members of the family for streaming, live tv and video games.
